Peace be upon you, beautiful human being!
This is a lesson I learned from John Maxwell. Whenever you are in a gathering, on the phone or with a loved one, ask yourself, “How can I add value to this conversation/moment/person?”
Don’t just wait for the other person to finish talking. Remember, leaders speak last. They eat last, too.
Let everyone else do the talking. Swallow that speech of yours. That’s ego waiting for a turn.
Listen and tune in.
Make others feel heard. Give them importance. Add value to a life.
Before you know it, as you sacrifice this habit of taking over the conversation, you’ll realize your relationships will begin to improve.
Soon, you’ll be running for Congress! (And winning, Lord Willing!) in sha Allah.
