Dear Self,
Peace be upon you beautiful human being!
When it seems that the world is falling to pieces around you, when nothing seems certain anymore, when you can’t see anything ahead of you, not even your own two feet…
This is for that you.
Remember: Detach yourself from the outcome.
Know that in His Eternal Words, Allah Himself Has Promised that “what is to come is better than what has gone by.” (Quran 93:4)
Especially for those cleaning their hearts. For those who love Him.
We are visiting the country where I was born, where my roots are …after nearly a decade. The mind-boggling thing is..we just rebooked our flights for the third time (after they kept getting canceled).
Right now, we are repeating prayers like this one, taken from the sunnah, or way of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
اللَّهُمَّ رَحْمَتَكَ أَرْجُو فَلا تَكِلْنِي إِلَى نَفْسِي طَرْفَةَ عَيْن، ٍ وَأَصْلِحْ لِي شَأْنِي كُلَّهُ لا إِلَهََ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ.
‘O Allah, it is Your mercy that I hope for, so do not leave me in charge of my affairs even for a blink of an eye and rectify for me all of my affairs.None has the right to be worshipped except You.’
We are in limbo as we await our flight time. We are holding on to the rope of endless hope, but I’ve noticed a change.
I am at total peace. Serenity resides within me.
Why?
I am no longer attached to the outcome.
In my heart of hearts, I know. Whatever will happen will be better, for me, and for the world. It will be in my best interests, too – even though I may not see it at first that way.
This has always been my experience. God’s Promise IS true. Everything else isn’t real.
Because I’m no longer attached to the outcome, guess what?
I can float. And because I can float, I will also learn to swim…to shore, that is! 😉 After quite an adventure at sea, it seems…
Will keep you posted! Due to our travels in sha Allah (Lord Willing), I will only be posting on Sunday! So many projects, so many updates!
