Peace be upon you, beautiful human being!
One day, I woke up. Stumbling over to the bathroom sink in my sleepy stupor, I stretched my arms and greeted myself in the mirror. “G’mornin’!”
As real me met mirror me, our eyes widened with horror. Did a bee sting me? Did I have an allergic reaction? How did this even happen?
Resting beneath my brows were two bold red stripes…and as I looked on in horror, they were getting bigger.
For the next few days, I wore sunglasses to work…in the dark.
Rushing into the optho doc’s office, I was quickly diagnosed with dry eye. Since I also had an infection, I was put on tobradex – an antibiotic.
Finally, the next day, I awoke to a clear face. I was thrilled that medicine had worked a miracle for me.
Two days later, my eczema returned…with a vengeance.
Poring over webMD articles, I ordered Manuka honey creams in a frenzy. I meticulously went through blog articles just like this one, in hopes that I would find my cure.
The doctor said she’d have to put me on Restasis – an immunosuppressant drug. That’s when I decided I was going to change my diet.
Tightening the belt, I cut out all processed foods and sugar. No more burgers n’ fries, girl! I started eating more green vegetables and sunnah superfoods, like black seeds and honey. Everything organic and whole called my name. Eventually, I co-founded a pure foods snack company with my best friend.
Coincidentally, my eczema/dry eye/infection snuck away and has never come back. Alhamdulillah. All praise and thanks is to The Lord of All the Worlds.
